Resort Summary

Dale Hill is one of the finest golf hotels in the area. Offering fantastic accommodation, fine dining and two championship courses, it is not hard to see why Dale Hill has become one of the most in demand golf destinations in the South East.

The golf course at Dale Hill was created in 1970s, but the whole site has changed beyond recognition since then. The original course, now known as the Dale Hill Course has improved and matured over the years and is still a great favourite amongst many of the members. Then, in 1997, The Ian Woosnam Course was added. This full length (par 72, 6512 yard) Championship Course, designed by the former Masters Champion and Ryder Cup Captain is a delight to play. Full USGA specification ensure that it is playable throughout the year and that the greens are of the very best construction. For the golfer, this translates to a wonderfully scenic course in exceptional condition. Ian Woosnam commented...

'The course has been designed to have the perfect balance - tough enough for the pros and easy enough for the amateurs - and can be enjoyed by all'. The course is quite undulating and buggies are required most of the time. This enhances the enjoyment for the majority of golfers, particularly as their cost is included in the price of the green fee and, as the course is so popular, it virtually eradicates the issue of slow play. Members can play without buggies in the summer evenings.

The sister club at Chart Hills is just over ten miles away and is included in one of the most popular packages available from Dale Hill - the WoosnamFaldo Challenge. Typically golfers would play at the Faldo designed Chart Hills on a Friday, before staying at Dale Hill and taking on the Woosnam course on Saturday, with the option of a further relaxing round on the Old Course to complete the weekend on a Sunday. This is a really popular package and it can be tailored to the exact requirements of the visiting golfers.

Golf Courses

The Woosnam Course
18 holes
6512y
5955m
Par 72
Designed by Ian Woosnam
Constructed in 1997 to USGA specifications the Ian Woosnam designed course is a par 72, 6512-yard course demanding and rewarding accuracy off the tee.

There are many spectacular challenges throughout the course including the 16th, a tightly wooded hole across a deep, vegetation filled gully requiring an unerring shot up over a rough-filled gully to a tricky green.

With its scenic views weaving across the High Weald the compulsory buggy is a welcome addition to playing the course as you head for the Clubhouse.

According to Woosnam, The course has been designed to have the perfect balance - tough enough for the pros off the back tees while presenting a good challenge to the amateurs off the yellows and the reds. A course that can be enjoyed by all.
The Old Course
18 holes
5856y
5355m
Par 71
Opened 35 years ago the Old Course presents a challenge to golfers of all abilities. Off the yellow tees the course can seem quite benign, however, the white tee box presents a tougher proposition.

The Dale Hill Old Course is enveloped by stunning woodlands in an environment rich in wildlife, fauna and flora. With spectacular views across the Sussex Weald, a designated Area of Natural Beauty, this is a 5,856 yard, par-69 golf course which complements and acts as a partner to The Ian Woosnam Designed Course.

The front nine holes are clear and open, whilst the back nine are enclosed and tree lined. The Dale Hill Old Course is demanding, yet pleasantly negotiable. Playing shorter than The Ian Woosnam Designed Course, the undulating, historic woodland-surrounded fairways and challenging greens provide a fitting test for golfers of all standards and capabilities.

For those who consider golf to be more of a lifestyle than a hobby, Dale Hill Hotel & Golf Club offers membership packages that offer unlimited access to both of our beautifully mature golf courses.
