Bovey Castle

Golf breaks at Bovey Castle, England. GRD Rating: 8.8

Resort Summary

Bovey Castle is history, excitement, glamour and adventure. Where else can you wear your Hunter wellies at 8am, golf spikes at 3pm and Manolo Blahniks for dinner? But while guests can indulge in luxury, this is not a stuffy hotel where you are not allowed to sit on the furniture, or let your kids enjoy themselves.

With Dartmoor National Park on the doorstep and so many activities on offer, we are certain you will find entertainment to suit all ages - from archery to fly fishing, falconry to clay pigeon shooting, cider and sloe gin making, to guided walks on Dartmoor. Bovey Rangers can keep the children occupied, and there is a playroom to delight the youngest of guests.

The Spa at Bovey Castle is a sanctuary tucked away from the bustle of modern life. The large indoor swimming pool in the orangery opens onto a stunning sun terrace. It is up to you whether you wish to laze in the pool, jacuzzi, sauna or steam rooms, workout in the gym, or indulge yourself in escapist treatments.

Accommodation

Bovey Castle features 64 individually designed bedrooms by Annabel Elliot, located in the original manor house and private mews. Each bedroom reflects the luxurious hospitality that Bovey Castle is renowned for, with every finishing touch selected to complement the warmth and elegance of the guest rooms.

Accommodation at Bovey Castle includes Single, Classic and Castle bedrooms - each designed for single occupancy or short breaks. The larger and more deluxe Superior Castle and Valley Castle rooms promise spectacular views of the surrounding Dartmoor National Park and hotel estate, with the River Bovey meandering through the golf course. Each suite at Bovey Castle boasts a unique layout, with superior sized bedrooms, spacious bathrooms and uninterrupted views of the valley, courtyard or first tee. The open plan layout of many of our suites creates ample space for separate sleeping and living areas, which can be used as a private dining area for couples, or as additional space for parents with young children. The Junior State, Family, State and Grand State suites are all beautifully-appointed and finished to the highest standards of luxury and comfort.

Food and Drink

The dining experiences at Bovey Castle have been designed to complement the hotel's reputation for country house elegance and outdoor activities. Whether you plan to participate in one or two of the hotel's impressive guest activities, or retreat to the tranquility of the Adam Room's plush armchairs, the style and selection found in each of the hotel's restaurants and dining areas cater for all tastes.

Lavish picnics can be ordered to accompany guests on daily activities, with the Castle Bistro also offering light lunches, golf snacks and family-friendly meals throughout the day. The atmosphere here is bright and relaxed, with contemporary dcor and spectacular views from the restaurant's terrace.

Afternoon tea can be served in any of the hotel's public areas, but the Cathedral Room and Adam Room are popular locations for this quintessentially English treat. On sunny days, the South Terrace is the most desirable spot in the hotel for afternoon tea, as tea is served with panoramic views of the entire estate.

With stylish service and seasonally British cuisine, the ambience in The Edwardian Grill is smart but laid back, with Art Deco decor and unrivalled views over the grounds and gardens. The daily menu reflects a locally-sourced array of ingredients, including fish from Brixham Harbour and the finest beef from native Dartmoor cattle.
