Recently ranked as 77th in Golf World Magazines Top 100 English Courses and home to the English PGA Championship, the Downs Course rises steeply from the clubhouse, The Kennels, up towards Goodwood Racecourse perched high on the South Downs and gives golfers incredible views of Chichester Cathedral, down to the Isle of Wight and the sparkling Solent beyond. Designed in 1914 by legendary golf architect, designer of Gleneagles and Carnoustie and five times winner of the Open Championship, James Braid, The Downs course features tricky doglegs and long sweeping greens which are both a treat and a challenge to true golf fans.

Designed by renowned golf architect and player, Donald Steel, the Park Course winds effortlessly around the beautiful 18th Century parkland surrounding Goodwood House.

Open to the public as well as to Members, the easy walking 6,650 yard course which meanders through woodland and tree lined fairways to closely guarded greens, demands accuracy, rather than brute force! But don't be lulled into a false sense of security, the brilliant design means that you may just be caught out by one of the tricky doglegs scattered about this easy to walk parkland golf course.

Accommodation

Goodwood offers a huge range of stunning accommodation to suite any occasion, whatever you choose you will be greeted by uncompromised luxury and stunning views of the surrounding estate and countyside. Situated in the historic 18th Century part of the building, are a range of unique Character Rooms, each individually decorated, combining modern details with historic links to the Estate. The Four poster room provides a perfect romantic escape. The Garden rooms open out onto their own terrace, perfect for an alfresco breakfast. The Goodwood offers a variety of wining and dining from THE Richmond Arms, celebrating the best of British, the stylish, intimate, market restaurant, uses the finest Estate and local ingredients. Traditional favourites are enhanced with a modern approach and new ideas. The Godwood Bar & Grill , this buzzing, brasserie style and less formal restaurant, makes it perfect for lively chats with great friends, a family gathering or for those who want a more laid back atmosphere. The Kennels, overnight guests can dine at this private members clubhouse. Described as a Feast for the Senses, this stylish yet welcoming venue is set amongst contemporary art and Georgian architecture. The Aero Club Caf located in the heart of the airfield, the caf has a warm, relaxed atmosphere with friendly, helpful staff and serves home-cooked food, some of which is produced at Goodwoods own organic Home Farm.

Getting there

Goodwood is located just outside Chichester, only 60 miles from London, 30 miles from Brighton and Southampton.
Nearest airport: London Gatwick Airport
Travel options: By Rail - there is a regular service from London Victoria to Chichester of 1hour, 40 minutes, plus the coastal service from Brighton and Portsmouth. Buses or taxis are available at Chichester Station. Also easily accessible by car, From London Gatwick - follow the M23 south towards Brighton. At Junction 11, turn right onto the A264 towards Horsham, then take the A24 towards Worthing, followed by the A27 towards Chichester. At the Tangmere roundabout before Chichester, turn right following signs for Boxgrove & Halnaker. Go through the village and straight over at the crossroads, (there is a flint wall on your right). Continue on this road for about half a mile, turn left at the T junction and the hotel entrance is a few yards on the right.
